Poster: A snowHead
|
Read alot before I spent my whopping $30 on some. They are in great shape and freshly tuned and waxed. Anybody ski these before and have an opinion on them? I'm already in love with them. I can move around in my shop with them on much easier than I can with my Rossi's. That should be 100x easier on actual snow then
And in the words of snowhot.. the quiver grows...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

SnowHot, yes I saw those on ebay when Robo first asked about them; those look like the novice/intermediate 68mm waist 6/4 W womens' model, but I thought RoboGeek could just read it off his skis and tell us for sure.
Heavy binding for that light a ski.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

The good news is Robogeek IS a novice/intermediate.
I'm thinking this is a fine ski for him to get going, and he doesn't have much invested.
Robogeek, if you get your sorry tush up here this winter, I'll let you try out some skis. Heck, knowing the way I turn around my quiver, I may even sell you some skis!!!

SnowHot, I had a different understanding, thanks for the correction. I had thought Robo was
a) coming back to the sport after a layoff and
b) that he already had a set of Rossi Roc X (110/72/95) or similar, from shaped ski generation 4 and thereby a lot more adapted to modern teaching than a ski from shaped ski generation 1.5 with a shape of 100/68/90.

Rossingnol Freedom X 170's.. I just never felt comfy in them - even just moving around on flat ground. I have short legs and long skis just didn't feel right. Those bindings look heavy but they are surprisingly light.
Specs are 103 70 93

Ah, the 7/4 then.

interesting.
I wonder if that would change with some boot changes.
Edit: FWIW, my 5'2" mom skied on 203cm in her day...

Yup.. thats about what I started out on. Old Harts.. then I found these things they called mini-skis back then - they were maybe 80mm and pretty fat, with bindings sort of like a cable tele. It felt like ice skates riding them, so thats what I learned to 'ski' on. Obviously none of that would apply to real skis, so I was back to square one last year
btw.. these are Four R's.. 2001 model I think

Ya, that makes sense with that binding.

at any rate, I'm 100% confident in my equipment now. Thats going to improve my skiing quite a bit. Big change over last year
And at $30 a pop, if I need to get others, its no big loss. I'd rather buy than rent the garbage they have where I ski..

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I dunno 'bout that. I would love to see ya ski, particularly on a modern SL or SL-derivative ski like 220166422665 or 260178528718

You know it makes sense.

parlor, not yet but I bet I would be a natural on them
I've never been really shown how to properly ski, so with last years lessons and what I'm doing this year I think I'll actually be able to call myself a skier at the end of the season and leave my wannabe status behind...
I taught myself and from watching Olympic jumping. Thats what I fell in love with skiing to do - jump! Hence my inability to turn.. lol

well.. about to give these a run this tues.. perfect conditions for them.. ice storm just passed, a few inches of man made on top of what mother nature layed down. Should be icy cord at 9am in the shade. Taking my other ski's just in case - but I'm real excited to try undersized skis on groomers
