Hello,
I heard that Alpe D'huez has free guiding groups supplied by the SCGB (sponsored by the resort)
Does anyone know anything more about this? where I can book in with them, and what sort of level of experience might you need?
Hope someone can help! thanks.

benzanna3, I believe you get a day or two for free before you have to stump up. Certainly used to anyway.

Thanks for your help... but just to be sure do you mean you get a days or 2 free guiding before you have to start paying, or a day or 2's membership free?

one days free guiding, then you will be asked to join if you wish to carry on...
I doubt they check "previous" resorts, so you could do 1 in Chamonix, 1 in Verbier, etc....

Note that guiding is at a different standard on different days - though if nobody of the right standard shows up the majority wins. There will be a time-table displayed at the hotel the rep does his social hour.
Details for Alpe d'Huez:
First day meeting place: Sunday mornings at 10.00am. Bottom of the DMC, 1er Tronçon
Social hour: 6-7pm, Hotel Le Chamois bar
Social hour contact: 0033 476 803 119

snowball, that's Alpe d'Huez, I think you'll find. There's no rep in 2Alpes, for some reason.

Arno, easiski's office hours are free, though. Well, OK, you'll have to buy her a coffee. I like the idea of her instructing being free, though. Do you think I should re-negotiate my January deal with her?

achilles, naughty boy - imagine you confusing "guiding" with "instructing".
Now who would have thought that possible.
