Has anyone got any hints/links for cheap car hire out of Chambery airport?The prices seem to be more expensive here than Geneva?
Do hire cars generally have chains/winter equipment/tyres as they do out of swiss Geneva.?Or do you have to pay extra?
Any info greatly appreciated

Chambery has the same car hire companies as other airports....Hertz, Avis, Sixt, Europcar etc etc.....so use the same car hire links as for anywhere else....holiday autos etc etc......or whatever other discounts you may come across through the AA or Rac etc etc....

We looked into this - the other issue is that CHambery airport is *tiny*, and the car hire desks are not always open, e.g. not on Sundays.
If you;re heading up the Tarentaise I can recommend taxis aarthur, if you make enquiries via mysnowsports.com then you should get a reduced rate too

No problem hiring from the airport..although they did have to taxi us downtown to pick up the car we ordered. You might want to check on that as I believe that was a one-off.
The airport is small but the staff will have to hang round late so get to the desk 1st as it can take a time to beat the queue. The good thing is that there is not so much hire traffic there anyway particuarly if you go weekdays, IME.
Chains/winter pack are extra
I'd have no problem flying into Chambery and using the a hire-car. Nice little local airport, IMV.

Chambery is a quality little airport, I fly into it from leeds a few times a year. Check out holiday supermarket to compare prices for car hire
never had any hassle with car hire, there is a sun deck there where you can have a beer and wait for you plane to land, it makes a nice change from the busy airports

gwaelod, name me an airport which isn't chaos when the TO hordes descend.....? I have spent many an unhappy hour in Geneva, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Toulouse, Lyon, Grenoble, Chambery.....oh, and Birmingham, Manchester, Luton, Heathrow, Coventry, East Midlands...
