Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

First indoor ski jumping facility planned for Finland

Ylitornio in Finnish Lapland is trying to develop plans to become the first venue to stage indoor Ski Jumping competitions. The plan is to build three hills side-by-side, a Ski Flying hill (K 185) enabling jumps of up to 250m, a large hill (K 120) with jumps of about 140m, and a normal hill (K 90). ...The results of an 8-month long feasibility study were presented to the Finnish Ski Association this week. The top part of the in-run track will be in a tunnel dug into the Aavasaksa mountain. The rest of the facility would also be covered to ensure that weather conditions have no impact on the competition results, and that safe and equal conditions can be ensured for all competitors, meaning the hills could be in use almost 10 months a year.

The estimated budget for the project is €30 million and financing is expected to be available by the end of 2007. The construction is planned to begin in 2009 and last 2-2.5 years.

 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Why can`t a similar project be undertaken in Scotland or elsewhere in the UK?? I have always thought they should build a big dome over Hillend in Edinburgh and pump it full of snow. It would provide an all year round training zone.. a centre of excellence for skiing and boarding!! The snowdomes are all well and good but they do not provide sufficient steepness or variety to produce top class athletes.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Your so right - I have often looked at hills and thought if only they could build a dome down the side of it - they could even put grass back over the top! Got to be cheaper than these snow domes and you could get a good size piste!
