Are boots getting better every year or are they just tweaking designs and using newer materials
My vote would be for the Salomon SX 92s (but i ski on Lagne 120 freerides)

There could be many answers, past and present, for many reasons, but for me it has to be the current Nordica Speedmachine, a joy to work with, awsome rebound and a lovely cuff adjustment for those lacking flexion. It's also very pretty and has a great alround fit for many foot types.

I have to agree, the height ajustment on the foot bed was brilliant. I used to be able to wear them all day without the need to unbuckle other than at the end of the day. I have the Kryptons now and they are a poor compromise.

I like my Garmont Synergy, G- fit liner. Which is why my next alpine boot I'm likely to have an endorphin or similar high up the list. Shame they have zero market penetration in the UK.
Tried a Nordica Grand Prix once - couldn't even get my foot into it (which no doubt SZK would claim was the optimum tightness to go for .

SMALLZOOKEEPER, I can't see many people disagreeing with your list.
My Nordica Dobermans are the best boots I have ever used.

skimottaret, hmmm, I just can't believe the difference when I moved from mine to properly fitted Tecnica TNTs...(1991 it was). No idea how I managed to control skis with almost no contact between my feet and the Salomons...
Very comfy though, similar to slippers and about as effective.

SX91e, GP in lemon and lime then Speedmachines when they died... Superb and bought off the internet too.
Timberland boots for the pub - soft, strong and very long (if you too have big feet).

Ski boots are getting better. But they are still rubbish. They have a long way to go yet. They need to get lighter and tighter.
Technica make my favorite shoes right now.

I'm sure there's scope to make lighter boots (but I'm not sure to what degree weight saving would benefit... some would argue the opposite), but TIGHTER?!? If I wanted to ski around with blood pouring out of my ears that's been possible for decades. Modern boots aren't rubbish, modern skiers are tho'

I guess everyone will have a different 'Best Boot' since we all have slightly different feet and fit is most important.
Not sure how relevant this is but:
I was surprised last March, skiing with a group of German friends in Val T. Some of them were very advanced skiers and were wearing boots which they'd had for ages and would be sold in the UK as intermediate (ish). I mentioned this and they all said that it's unusual for a boot that fits properly to hinder a skier's learning process.
Can anyone say if they've had experience of a 'sporty intermediate' boot holding up the learning process?....(other than the psychological effect of new boots boosting the ego.)

Boots will get snugger and tighter. There remains scope to improve reaction times between foot and plank.
