Poster: A snowHead

Sort of got used to getting 20-30% reduction by pre-booking ski rental online at snowrental.net
But they don't offer any shops in Wengen
Have looked directly at a couple of shops in Wengen, but no online discount available.
Any other means of booking online and getting discounts ?

masmith, fraid not, they're all going to charge the same rate, sometimes if enough of you go in however you may get a discount but it won't be huge, the best selection can be found in Central Sport right in the middle of the village

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The problem with Wengen is that there's no competition. There are just 3 rental shops, all offering the same prices. No incentive to offer discounts therefore - you're going to be visiting one of them anyway. The only way to get a discount that I've heard of in the past is via the Intersport site - I think you can get a few % off if you are a member of the AA or something like that.
You can save a few francs by renting in Lauterbrunnen which is a bit cheaper, but hardly worth the hassle unless you're paying for a big family I'd suggest.

The downside of the Jungfrau region Rental Network is: All the same price
The upside of the Jungfrau region Rental Network is: You can change your gear at any of 10 locations (First, KS/Mannlichen, Murren) without any issues.
Sudden powderday? Grab widies. Sudden urge to scream across the groomers? grab slick carvers.

masmith, snowrental is a bit of a con anyway, the online prices are often matched in the resort shops, and are rarely 20-30%off the rate you pay in them.

Helen Beaumont, not in my experience, have often got 30+% discounts from snowrental. Store in resort will offer dicounts, but not as big as that. In the last 3 years, friends who have not prebooked with SnowRental and hired locally have always paid a fair bit more.
Last year I was advised by Matterhorn Sport to book (with them) via SnowRental as they can't match the prices direct.
I guess though that if snowrental are only offering discounts of 10-15% then, yes, these are likely to be matched in resort.
I tend to find larger SR discounts the further ahead you reserve, a bit like lo-cost airlines.
Most shops have websites these days so it's easy to see what you would be paying in resort before reserving with SR.
