I have a summer job in a sort of rep-type capacity this year. As part of my bid to disseminate tourist information and send my guests out to enjoy themselves, I will be advertising Easiski's services. Can anyone who has availed themselves of these in the past please post a bit of feedback on here so I can print it off and display it? Particularly anyone who has been here for summer skiing/Mondial. Ta!

Lizzard, here's a little thread I did last year:
http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=16528
I don't say it in so many words in the thread but I wouldn't travel all the way to LDA for the purposes of having lessons unless I thought it was thoroughly worthwhile! Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have time this year

Lizzard, both my kids and I have had lessons with easiski in summer on the glacier.
In my case as a relatively experienced skier it was a case of analysing my faults and giving me a series of excercises to work on to help me correct them. I have been feeling the benefit this winter.
The kids were beginners. Imo the summer season is a great time to take them to learn. There's less chance of them being miserable with the cold, there's loads of other stuff to do to keep them occupied after skiing or as an alternative if they don't like it or want some time away from the slopes.
Having seen her at work first hand, easiski is excellent at finding the right balance between having fun and pushing the kids' technique on. They both came on leaps and bounds. In the case of my elder son this was particularly pleasing as he is on the autistic spectrum. She took the special problems he can sometimes present in her stride.
Pics from 2 summer trips to L2A including some of easiski in her office:

This sounds interesting.
I had a vague idea about a ski instruction holiday during the summer ... had been looking at Warren Smith thing is Saas Fee - but as a skier lacking in confidence, it looked a little intimidating.
Whats LDA like in the summer? Is there much of a skiing area to keep you busy, and what other stuff is there to do?

jonflat2, if you can move the Polar Bear off the top it's not too bad.
It's just the same as a normal run - snow in good conditions, icy in poor/post rain conditions only.

jonflat2, We were unlucky at last years mondial as there was a fair bit of hardpack ice (compacted and freeze/thaw snow), but the real bad stuff was the actual glacial ice which was, althought not abundant, was unavoidable on the last 200m approaching at the bottom drag lift. In the summer this would not be such a problem as the ice will start to soften by mid morning, wheras we had very cold temps throughout the day.
How icey was that bit at the bottom? End of the first day I bought a helmet

I have seen the difference in two guys skiing that easiski has made and if they were not both larger than life characters ( and you would notice them always ) you would not think they were the same skier.

Easiskis enthusiasm, and her delight when you manage to carve those perfect turns down the slope, added to her ability to explain in plain and simple English. My skiing has certainly improved, and not just because I have been doing it more often.

Every resort should have an Easiski! She has a genuine desire to help improve your skiing and a talent for doing so, using simple straightforward language and simple straightforward exercises that work! She inspires confidence frequently challenging but never frightening.................and she's a jolly nice lady too!

Charlotte (easiski), has a great ability to break skiing down into it's component parts, explain and correct each of your errors with these components in plain English (sometimes very plain!), and then get you to put them all back together in a form that improves your skiing beyond recognition. What makes it all the more impressive is that she can do all this on the most basic of slopes if needed.

I agree with all the comments posted about Charlotte's instructional technique. Lessons with easiski really do make a positive difference, not just with your skiing technique, Charlotte's love for skiing is totally infectious and her subject knowledge legendary. She focuses on the individual and manages to get the best from you. My wife is definitely in the nervous beginners category and had it not been for Charlotte's intervention my wife would have lost confidence and given up completely.

We have now made 2 trips to LDA for the express purpose of having lessons with Charlotte. Once in the summer, which was a novelty for us, and once this last winter, even though it means paying extra for accommodation and lift passes when we have our own apartment and season passes for the Espace Diamant. It's been well worth it and I'm sure we shall do it again. I echo the points made above; Charlotte strips things down to the basics, tells you the most important thing you are doing wrong and helps you to get it right. Without complicating the issue. Sounds simple? It's amazing how rare a talent this is.

pam w, yes, I have been twice to LDA specifically for easiski lessons. As a side-effect, it's reminded me that LDA is rather enjoyable in its own right.

achilles, Ditto - though I would substitute discovered for reminded as on paper LDA would not have held any appeal for me whatsoever previously - but I have now seen the light!

I’ve been meaning to write a report on my trip to L2A since I returned but being a slow typist have not really got round to it yet but here it is now.
Inspired by reports such as those on this thread I decide that a trip to L2A was needed and that a summer trip to the Alps would be a good idea.
We are a family of four with 2 kids who have been skiing on holiday with us since they were young. Mrs T Bar and myself have both been skiing for quite a few years now but have not really made any improvements in our technique for several years either; we are probably fairly typical of many keen Brit holiday skiers.
We arranged a series of five days lessons with easiski splitting into groups of two. The quality of easiski’s lessons have been documented many times on snowheads . I would agree with pretty much everything that has been said. My own take is this I have had many lessons down the years of varying quality from some frankly indifferent lessons to some very good ones indeed. I have though never before had an instructor who is quite as quick at spotting basic faults and has put so much thought into the individual exercises to use to try and remedy them.
I have to confess to not really understanding a lot of the terms used in BZK, my eyes tend to glaze over a bit when trying to understand (and I have tried to read the books). Easiski is very good at keeping things simple and easy to understand so that you don’t have to know a lot of biomechanical jargon to know what you are doing wrong.
Easiski quickly had us doing different drills to try and correct our faults. The drills were very clearly thought out, well explained, the enthusiasm with which they are explained helps make them good fun to do.
Good teaching is all very well but does that necessarily equate to progress?
Well over the course of the week I could see visible differences in both my children’s skiing and my son in particular felt he knew a lot more about what he had to do. Mrs T Bar and myself have our faults rather more deeply ingrained in our skiing and have a fair bit of work to do. By the end of the week though I could see a real difference in Mrs T Bar's stance. As for myself I felt that there was definite difference in what I was doing after years of stasis. A slight caveat in that differences felt on the relatively easy glacier pistes may not actually equate to objective differences in skiing more difficult slopes where I may revert to type. I do feel though that I have been given a kind of ‘tool box’ to try and improve my skiing how much improvement I get will depend a lot on the work I put in to correcting old faults at least now I know how to.
A quick note on summer skiing: Various snowheads have posted saying that they would get bored summer skiing or don’t feel it’s really the right season. On my visit conditions on the glacier were pretty good, firm first thing and softening up over the course of the morning. The pistes were all pretty gentle. Being up high with the alpine panorama and Mt Blanc in the distance with snow under your feet and watching the care and enthusiasm with which the racers trained was great. I loved it but I would have only enjoyed it for a couple of mornings without the lessons after that I would have been bored. Taking instruction and working on technique in an unthreatening environment meant I really enjoyed a full week up on the glacier and hope that my skiing next winter sees the benefit. I have posted elsewhere on what there is to do in summer in the resort, for a family holiday it is very hard to beat.
