Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A first for Cairngorm Mountain

Cairngorm Mountain is to run two tow lifts in midsummer for the first time ever. Previously, at this time of year, people have been able to ski in the Cairngorms but only if they trekked to where the snow was. This year, tows are to be made available to skiers at the resort just days ahead of midsummer.

Was at Cairngorm today, they had 2 temporary rope tows for about half the normal length of the ptarmigan tow. The snow was nice but it was a pretty small run, still nice to be out on 20th June. However we skied down the Ciste Gully for the last run of the day and it was great, snow lasted until about 200m from the boardwalks and was lovely conditon and pretty wide all the way down. The hike back up to the top of the Daylodge poma wasn't so lovely though, was pretty knackered after walking through deep heather in ski boots carrying my skis Smile

Incredible to be skiing in Scotland on the longest day ! Does any of the snow there actually last all through the summer ? Even just small patches of it ?
