Was in Pamps Feb 2007 and the snow was awful. My partner and myself are new to skiing so it wasnt to bad for us.
Now the hard part, were working our nuts off(well I am, shes not got nuts) to take 3 kids away. What was the snow like in Bansko on 23 Feb last year?
Anyone help?

In Feb half-term 2006 it was good.
Best to book late I think 'cos no one anywhere can predict the weather much beyond 5 days. They may have a rough idea that it will precipitate but a few degrees either way can change snow to rain, which will wash existing snow away.
This forum is hectic with weather and snow reports in January, so keep watching.

Bansko was better than a lot of alpine resorts in Feb last year. However, the ski road that goes right back down to resort level was only open sporadically. This shouldn't be a problem if temperatures are high enough as it is well covered by snow making.
By the way Bansko is a great place for good quality, affordable tuition. Book as many lessons as you can fit in and you'll see a great improvement in your skiing. My skiing was hugely improved after 3 days of one-to-one tuition in Bansko.
Don't forget to try the Mehanas, the food is amazing.

Hi MFC,
I'm from Bulgaria and think that late Feb is the perfect time to go in Bansko. It will be VERY unusual if there is no enough snow at this time of the winter.
Basically there are a lot of snowmaking machines which can produce snow, in case of snowless winter.

vgsbs, Went to Bansko a couple of years back and really enjoyed it. Gondola and lifts on top were fine with very few queues and uncrowded slopes. Snow was great (in Feb) that year. We were thinking of going back this coming year but some research has highlighted that over building of apartments and hotels on a massive scale has caused horrendous crowds on the slopes and the queues that go with it. Can you confirm how bad it is out there because as far as value for money was concerned I think the resort was hard to beat?

Mogs, I think you should be OK if you avoid half-term. We've been a few times and never seen a queue/crowd.

Thanks for the replies. I hope what you say is correct. I loved the resort and the locals were really friendly. It would be a shame for them if the resort was spoilt to the extent that I have heard In reply to the same question on another form I was told that 'development of new 30-50 km. ski runs is imminent' so that may go some way to easing any likely queues

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Mogs,
Did your hear about the imminent development of pistes from a property developer?
