We've been offered first refusal on a ski holiday in early December (not school holidays) by Ski Olympic in the French Alps. Aside from the lack of snow at that time, we wondered if they were any good? On perusing their web site we were concerned that the only page updated since 2005 was the recruitment page. I've searched and seen good things about them, but just wanted to check that is still the case, given our issue with their web site.

docsquid, We are off back for our 4th Ski Olympic Holiday in 4 years. I think they have great people and offer great Value For Money. An all round great service. They are not Scott Dunn, but then they don't pretend to be. Where do you fancy going? I suspect you are looking at the old site, try this http://www.skiolympic.co.uk/indexhi.html
EDIT MOst of the chalets now have 360 degree photos

Frosty the Snowman, thank you. We're having a look now. The holiday was won by our sister in law's friend who can't ski, needs the money, and is definitely transferable. We would get it at under half price, but need to decide if it really is a good deal or not. We'd probably want to go somewhere with a glacier but really, really don't like Tignes, which kinda limits our options unless we just bite the bullet and go there anyway and hope that we're not limited to the glacier! La Plagne is another possibility.

when exactly in December are you going? You"d have to be really unlucky to be limited to the glacier anytime after the first or second week of Dec and the link to Val is usually open by then too

docsquid, we found them very good, but haven't used them for a good few years now. They have some nice chalets in La Rosiere - you could take a punt on some decent early snow up there. The La Plagne glacier is a bit scary if I remember rightly (compared to the one in Tignes). I skied in early December in Tignes, in a year without very good snow (can't remember which) and we only went up to the glacier to see what it was like (cold, was the answer, though the skiing was fun). As sbd says you should get enough snow in Tignes in December to have fun without going too high. But I don't like Tignes either - I can understand your reluctance. I find it a bit intimidating; too often rather bleak and cheerless and with lots of very tough, fit, determined looking youngsters who make me feel inadequate.

docsquid, They treat their staff 'right' and that makes their treatment of you the punter a good experience. 'Spawn o'Masque' did a season with them last year and would not hesitate to recommend the company. The bus option is just as good as flying.
Got room for a little 'un to join you? Tignes . . . is a state of mind . . . ugly as sin but it does have a warm heart. If you decide not to go PM me to discuss.

don't worry too much about what Tignes looks like (unless you're going for chocolate box scenery rather than proper skiing). the area is massive and from early december links with val so you can ski from one end of the whole area to the other. Even if you're unlucky and it's a bad snow year so only the glacier is open it's a huge glacier with heaps of runs and some pretty long ones.

Les Ecudets lift in 40 minutes!!. Hmm could be a goer. Wonder if they fancy swapping it for a much bigger wrinkly tin shed in Stockton on Tees
