Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Budget Resort Help

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a cheap one this season! Me and the mrs are boarders so resorts that are good for boarders would be good too. I say cheap because were saving for a wedding and cant splash out much this year but still would like to get away for a week.

We've been to passo tonale, mayrhofen and loved them both.

Any ideas of cheap resorts for young couples?

Cheers

loffers,
Congrats on impending wedding. IMO how you go and when you go is almost as important as where you go. Best value tends to be by booking packages last minute at low season, with chalets often offering pretty good 'bang per buck'. Early Jan usually has the best bargains and school holidays time has very few.
Generalising a bit more mega French resorts tend to be the most expensive places to ski in Europe especially around the Tarentaise, Smaller Austrian and Italian resorts are the cheapest of those that I've been to. With Swiss somewhere in the middle. Eastern Europe and Andorra are said to be very cheap but I have never been.
Nothing very specific I know but I'm not a boarder and don't know the best places for them. good luck. snowHead

I've found Andorra good for cheapo holidays, although it looks like that may be changing soon. Although I'm not a boarder, plenty of boarders seem to like the resorts. As T Bar says, if you pick the right time you can get some great deals. Good vibe in Soldeu which is probably one of the livelier resorts, although heard that Pas De La Casa is liveliest.

I've also thought about Livigno in Italy myself for a cheapo week but haven't been yet, so no idea what it's like.

Good luck with whatever you go for and congratulations on the forthcoming nuptials!

I can do April in Morzine pretty cheap (or March for a little more) and work it around flights any day of the week so you should be able to get a good deal on them.

We are the alpine test centre for true snowboards and our guests are usually about 90% boarders, although we have a lot more skiers this year.

Morzine links up easily to Avoriaz which has always been popular with boarders, we have loads of Parks and a huge choice of pistes to suit all tastes - even the iciest days haven't tempted me back to skis yet.

Drop me a line if interested.

I'm with smokin joe, wait it out and then book, you should be able to get some great last minute deals, even including Canada/USA...

My best was £299 for a fully catered chalet in Vail (quite a few years ago mind, but list price was £799)

loffers, I agree with everyone about late booking in mid January. The difference between the full price and the last minute bargain price is bigger, often, than the difference between and "expensive" resort and a cheap one. You'll get better value, and if you book a catered chalet you need spend very little on "extras".

Thanks for all the replies!

Think I will wait for a late deal, going to pick a week to back off work then wait it out.
