Poster: A snowHead

Eek - it’s going to be a tad warm when we arrive in VT on Saturday. We have never been there when it’s super warm. Are the forecasts to be believed - what do you think the chances of it being wrong? Any tips?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@Elsie80, if it’s any consolation, it will be a damn sight warmer everywhere else!

I don't get to VT until 20th, and at the moment, I'd say it's looking pretty decent.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Elsie80, the forecast doesn't look that warm to me, particularly for April. (I saw far higher temperatures than that in the Paradiski a couple of weeks ago.
Enjoy it! Don't wear to many layers. Drink lots of water. Be ready for relaxing in a sun lounger - worth considering taking sun hats.
The snow will likely be a bit slushy and bumpy by mid morning. If you're not (yet) confident with that, get a lesson.
And look out for the Family Bashers, who are staying in the Oxalys (right under Plein Sud lift)!

We have found these guys to be pretty much on the money,. certainly exceeding 80% accurate for their 3-day forecast:
https://www.mountain-forecast.com/peaks/Pointe-de-Thorens/forecasts/3266 - along with multu-level options for valley/mid/peaks.
But yes, freezing line above 3,000m means it'll be pretty warm & fairly sunny in VT
SPF50, sun hat, & shades in your bag ...or handy pocket(s)
Are you just pleased to see me or is that a water bottle in your pocket ;-?

@Elsie80,
Am currently in VT, has been mostly snowing for the last 3 days, it was snowing last night at midnight when I left the bar, and woke up this morning to it still snowing. Currently clear conditions, forecast for more snow tomorrow.
Excellent conditions in VT, should be like that for when you arrive at the weekend.
Might not be great elsewhere in the 3v’s!!

Unless you're intent on bagging steep south facing lines it will be fine. And just pay attention to piste closures which to be fair are rare in VT. It usually means a hillsideight slide onto it.

Get up and out early, be prepared to quit by 3, to avoid knee-wrecking semolina, IMHO.

Or have a leisurely breakfast, avoid the rock hard pistes before 10am and enjoy plenty of slushy afternoon goodness, right up to last lift after 5
