Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Where to go later feb half term week and the one after, dislike crowds

Starting a new job, with lots of time in february to take holidays. Would be going anyway at half term (second uk week) but as i have this extra holiday plus we can take the little one out of school, we can have the last week of feb as well but where to go?

Last season went to la rosiere (like half of snowheads it would seem) and it was really good for half term, no real queues, in fact la thuile was very quiet. Evolution 2 was excellent with my 6 year old, nearly 2nd yeti or star.

So we need self catering, good kids ski school, and reasonably quiet, for 2 weeks. Will be self drive, so includes austria, switzerland, italy, france. Reasonably large area of runs, like steep and groomed, hate lift queues and crowds. Places we like, les carroz, la thuile, zermatt early season, vaujany (not so much now however), tignes in january, plus a few on the other side of the pond but can't really afford that.

any ideas please as we would like somewhere different to where we usually go.

Could you take the first week, and have two consecutive weeks? That first week will be low season, French school hols start the second week.

pam w, sorry was a bit vague on dates Our half term week is Monday 18th, so we are thinking leaving friday 15th and having 2 weeks, on further investigation it looks like it is the paris schools hols and the other large zone b at the same time, so perhaps france may be out. Grimentz in CH has been suggested, but needs getting around by car.

carroz, what's happened to turn you against Vaujany, out of interest? We're considering it next year...

rainman, Its not quite what it was a few years ago, and my daughter had a appalling experience at the hands of the local ESF, so much so she still will not do any lessons with them anywhere (recognises the logo) and still goes on about it. It made a lasting impression on her. Ski Peak are really very good, especially the self catering places they do at the top of the village and the local creche is excellent, however be prepared for a health grilling if you use it and are English! Skiing can be really really busy at the weekend (alp d' huez in general)
