Poster: A snowHead

Look directly below the word 'Tibet' in the next para and you can see the end of it round the corner. Where it WAS is pretty obvious. That's a lot of missing ice.
Pic taken in Tibet, about 3 weeks ago.

austin7, I was shocked to see how much of the Grossglockner glacier had disappeared since I last visited about 1985. Scary is the word

Unfortunately, I wasnt there when the pic was taken - something to do with having to be at work, or I'd have tried to get more detail/pics. I'll try and find out from the friend who took the pics. Do know its Himalayan 'foothills' and 4000 - 4500m alt.

I was at Harrisons Rock nr Crowborough yesterday. The sandstone formations were formed on the seabed a few million years ago (150 to 300 million I believe). Crowborough is now 242m above sea level. It's amazing how much things change.

I spent a while in St Moritz this Winter. Up at Diavolezza -- 3k meters -- you can see similar, dark, steep, rocky ridges forming where the glaciers are rapidly melting away. We are definitely living through an interglacial period.
