Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I was chatting to a few of our usual group trip to Chamonix the other day and the usual question of geting to Le Tour raised its head.
We always stay at the Pointe Isabelle which is 30 seconds from the station.
Does anyone know if it's viable to get the train from Chamonix to Vallorcine and access Le Tour from there, if it is then surely it's much quicker than messing about on the buses ?

You can download the current (may be more frequent in higher season) schedule under "SNCF Valley Trains" at
http://world.chamonix.com/PDF/sncf.pdf
I'd have thought googling it was quicker than messing around on snowheads.
IMO it's viable - probably more expensive (but I don't know, the train may be included on the lift pass...) - but if you miss one you're somewhat stuffed.

, Yes its very easy to get to vallorcine on the train and the station is next to the gondola, plus the station is a pleasent bar and does food. One issue right now is that the tunnel is under repair and is closed until 9/5 with buses replacing the train at the moment.
The fare is about 2 euro free if you have a carte d hotel, and runs every hour in season every two out of season (now).
