Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

How to select bindings?

Considering buying skiis before i next head away which unfortunately isnt for ages (just back from Chamonix).

So that i dont get fed a load of cobblers by sales talk, what should i look for when selecting bindings to match the skiis? I know its a very general question, but any advice snowheaders could give me would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

thedavman, Don't listen to anyone else, go VIST. Just kidding. What skis? and what weight/level are you?

Considering getting Scott Aztec Pros in 175 cm, saw them for €300.

Im 6ft 1 and 14.5 stone. Ive seen a couple of different gradings for skiing levels but on the 1-10 system i would put myself at a 5/6. Was in Chamonix last week and managed all the reds ok and even did a few blacks though my technique definately went amiss on the blacks. Bought a pair of boots from SZK while over there too, Nordice Speed Machine 10s.

Scott Bindings (made by solomon) are nice and would do perfectly. I'd be looking for a binding with a din that goes up to 11-12 at your level. It'd be in the shops interest to sell you the correct binding. They don't want you to hurt yourself.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

thedavman, If there's chance that you'll own a second pair of skis in the future then seriously consider VIST bindings. Yes they're a bit more expensive to start with but you'll only need mounting plates for the second pair of skis as the heel & toe pieces interchange in a matter of seconds. Plus you can play around with the fore/aft balance point & other people can use your skis.
