Raise should be operational tomorow.
Apparently there is enough snow on the Presidents runs and with tonights frost it should make for some dry skiing. It must be rather thin though. I'll try to post some pics on Monday night.
The forecast for Monday is cold and windy but with the wind easing in the afternoon.
Lake District weather forecast is suggesting possible significant snowfall on Tuesday.
Over at Yadmoss there is not quite enough snow yet and the strong westerly wind didn't help today. However another couple of showers, perhaps on Tuesday, and YadMoss will be a goer too..
Here is the webcam pic from Sunday .

The news from Yad Moss is that the tow will be running today from 10;30am.
The local webcams and metO radar also show some showers reaching the ski area. The wind is a light northerly and the temperature is below freezing so this should be helping to increase the otherwise thin cover.
No doubt an update will be given tonight on the snowline (01228) 561634 about the possibility of skiing tommorrow.

Not enough snow for skiing yet but it looks as though the situation is about to change with significant falls forecast tonight and through tomorrow.
The wind direction is good, basically down the slope. It should be cold enough for drifting.
Sunday is less certain with the dividing line between the warm air to our south getting close to or crossing the Pennines.
Check the answer phone tonight after 7pm 001228 561634 or first thing tomorrow morning for an update on the possibility of skiing.

The report from Yad Moss is that they hope to run the tow tommorrow Saturday.
There wasn't sufficient today but the snow band moving up from the south has now reached the north Pennines and should drop a covering tonight and tommorrow. Wind direction is good and the temperature is below freezing. The only problem may be access roads first thing !
Will update with some pictures tommorrow night.
The outlook for Sunday looks hopeful but still some uncertainty.
If you do decide to come it may be worth ringing the snowline on the way 01228 561634
Don't forget a shovel to park your car off the road and out of the way of the snowploughs!

Fingers crossed it continues to snow this week - we'll be in Helvellyn YHA next weekend and if snow falls then I'm very keen to take the skis up with us and try out UK skiing up on Raise
A quick question or two for those locals, if I may be so bold: is it worth making arrangements in advance or can I simply walk up the path and join at the members hut? and as concerns the walk up, what time do people normally set off, is there some kind of group meeting point / time? As I said we'll be in the YHA which seems to be near the access point anyway.
Cheers!

Dumping it down here in Richmond NY. Radar shows good returns now over the North Pennines and Howhill weather station is recording minus 1 and 10mph ESE. The perfect scenario!
It won't be deep tommorrow but hopfully it should be skiable - (surely !)
Looks like being quite a wintry day on the fells . Hope to see you there.
I'll be wearing blue goretex (with silver paint bits!) and hopefully skiing telemark - assuming we get up the 6277.
Say hi to me!
nbt, keep an eye on the forecast and Lake District ski club website. Things change fast and its going a bit milder this week. Easterly is not good news for Raise so ring the snowline first.
Here is their website http://www.ldscsnowski.co.uk/
You can join on the day for £23 plus a day ticket £5. Park at the Greenside Lead Mine and aim to get there by 10am. 9am is better if its going to be a good day. The lift is usually operational from about 10:30am, if there is snow.

Pretty horendous up there today. Very thin snow, strong easterly wind and blowing snow all day.
However the local forecast is for a further two inches of snow to fall overnight and then turn to rain before clearing up in the afternoon with lighter winds.
Therefore the plan is to update the webcam at 8am Sunday and make a decision on the basis of that.
A message about potential operation of the tow will therefore be made on the snowline after 8am tomorrow.

Report and pics here.

Sunday wasn't great despite overnight snow on Saturday. Basically the snow had blown down the slope with little drifting and little overall cover. However the 'grass' skied well and the absence of rocks meant almost no harm to ski bases !
We charged £10 for the day, which most people seemed reasonably happy with.

Yadmoss is operational today. There is a general cover of thin snow with some drifting by the fences. These have been pisted out to improve the runs.
Day tickets are at a reduced rate
