Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Soldeu, Andorra - how early?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We were thinking of going back to Selva next year. However, two friends of ours, who have never skied might come along, so we have decided that we might try Soldeu in Andorra. This is where I went for my first ever ski holiday and found the place and instruction to be really good.

How early is it safe to book Soldeu, Andorra?

Thanks.

Not absolutely sure what you mean? You could book now and be assured a place. However, bearing in mind the terrible season Andorra has had this year, I doubt many people will be booking early - which means there will be some great deals closer to the start of next season.

Really depends on how particular you are about where you want to stay. Sport and Sport village hotels will probably book up early, other accommodation not so early.

jb1970, in what way ? I suspect you mean snow ? Where is that crystal ball ?

I have booked up twelve months in advance for the last five years, this years snow was the worst and we skied every day - saw no slush and had a fantastic powder day on the Friday !!! Just beware of the mechanics in Soldeu - thats my only warning. Laughing Laughing Laughing

I used to work there and I'm not sure what he means by the Mechanics either. Snow can come in early December in Andorra and when I was there we had our biggest snow storm in April!

jb1970, Never booked before November, never had a problem. Unless there are hundreds of you and you want to go at half term, I wouldn't worry too much. Soldeu's great, if a little quieter these days and most of the hotels in Andorra seem to aim for pretty much the same standard. For nightlife I'd chose Pas de la Casa over Soldeu, otherwise Soldeu has the edge. Conditions were terrible this year and we still skied everyday and had a great time, the only way you'll get the best snow conditions for any ski holiday is wait until the very last moment to book and then the accommodation may not be up to scratch. Book Andorra now and you'll be fine, leave it six months and you'll be fine.

Mechanics?

FenlandSkier, that's easy for you to say, every time I take my sledge for a service it comes back with a twisted runner ...

just book it pal - you wont be disappointed! I have to agree with mountainmammoth in that if you want some night life, choose Pas de la Casa - it is crazy over there, however, it may limit your actual skiing (especially early starts Embarassed )

jb1970, Our instructor told us that the resort usually opens at the beginning of December and that there is a 4 day Spanish holiday around the 6th when the place gets rammed.

However, this year it was mid December and it wasn't great even then
