Poster: A snowHead
|
I used salomon streetracers last holiday and i really liked the way they helped me turn. In that respect, they were the best skis I've ever been on.....made parallel turns and my first goes at carving really enjoyable. But ..... they were a bit unsteady when i was just running straight.
Am now thinking of buying my own pair of skis and wondering whether to go for the SRs or another make/brand. Is it possible to get something which is as good as the SR for initiating turns but a bit steadier when you're going fast on the flat?
I'd say I am 5 or 6 on the rating scale used on snow and rock's site - so intermediate, piste skier, happy on wideish pisted reds, not so happy on narrow icy reds.
Can anyone suggest other models I should try?
Any guidance really appreciated.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Any ski with a big sidecut (like the SR's) will be unstable when running flat and straight. The trick is to keep it on it's edges.
So if you like the easy inititation of the SR's but want something built a little better, try the Head iSuperShape. It will be more solid under all consitions.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

veeeight, thanks for that - didn't know it was the sidecut that caused the instability, but now I think about it it makes complete sense. Will keep an eye out for the Head ones.

Roger, the supershape speed have a larger turn radius . 15m rather than 12 for the 170 size.
