Last month, blind skier Kevin Alderton was worried he would have to quit skiing because of no sponsorship. Now, MARS® Drink has announced its 2007 sponsorship of Kevin and another of Britain's 2010 Paralympics hopefuls, Tim Farr. Both Kevin and Tim are members of the British Adaptive Ski team and, with the new sponsorship, will be hitting the slopes this season sporting the drink’s red, black and gold bottle logo. ...
As we have reported in the past, Kevin Alderton lost his sight as a result of a tragic incident in 1998 and was discharged from the army. St. Dunstans, a charity that helps blind ex-serviceman with their rehabilitation, supported him to return to the sport he loved, skiing, and he now holds world records for speed skiing.
Tim broke his back during a ski jumping accident in 2004. After just over 4 months in hospital, he was determined to hit the slopes again. With the help of The Back-Up Trust, he was back skiing with adaptive skis just 11 months after the accident.
