Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ortovox Patroller ?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Anyone know much about this transceiver? Looking to get one for my wife

Where I'm looking it says "Ortovox recommend the Patroller as being the easiest model to use, and so the most suitable for occasional use"

Cheers,

Greg

I think you mean the X1, reviewed here. As a mere punter myself, I think the Tracker is the about easiest beacon to use.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Easier than the Pulse? I've not used a Tracker so can't comment, but I'm not sure how it would be possible to make a transceiver easier to use than Barryvox's latest box of tricks.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Yes, it is marketed as the Patroller for the French market because the X1 got such a bad reputation. I assume it is still the same beacon. The X1 gained a third aerial for the 2006 season.

I would buy a Tracker or a Pulse. You should be able to get some good deals on the Tracker now because it gets an update for next season and the RRPrice next year drops to 260 euros (expect a street price closer to 240 euros).

kitenski - I agree with the "either a Tracker or a Pulse" sentiment.

If you want to go for the "which takes the least effort to learn to use sortof reasonably effectively" then it's the Tracker you want.

If you want the "which one do I want in the hands of Mrskitenski if I'm buried in an avalanche" then I'd go with the Pulse.

anywhere there is a "?" question mark means the page doesn't exist yet. I've not touched an M2 but anyone is welcome to log-in and add information, opinions etc.
