Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just drawing attention to a new feature of the site, for any snowHeads who don't study the Suggestions & Requests topics and may have missed it's arrival.

Hover your mouse pointer over the mountain view. Click to see a major development of the site. snowHome. Perhaps not yet in it's final form, but all working. Log Out if you want to see how Guests see us. Our user names alongside posts are all hidden so you needn't fear being attacked as a result of search engines indexing on your posts.

Click on the picture again from lower levels to get back to the top.

We're more than a forum now - as it says on the Guest view we are a community - with a nice, new, front door to the commune.

Edit - you could make this your snowHeads 'Home' page if you wished.

Sorry, bit misleading really. I presume that we're still allowed to refer to "nits" but we're not allowed to refer to "nit-picking" - quite what is the difference is beyond me ! Toofy Grin

BTW the Log In problem from the new front end has been fixed so you can set www.snowheads.com/mx in your browser as your way in to the site, if you like that route. << Edit - you don't even need the /mx bit now >>

Hmmm. Hidden user names? They are until one uses them in a thread. This means that they are from that point on open to search engines.

Fortunately for THIS genius, TGR forums are not top results on Google searches. (Epic and snowheads posts are).

Excellent new stuff, and already useful (the Ellis Brigham sale).

Just one thing - I use Safari on a Mac, and when I open a post from the 'Last Message Post' new column it opens differently from the Forum. The page opens as normal, but then bounces down to the bottom, and I have to scroll back up to the top.

comprex, not sure about that. AFAIK, search engines only have guest rights to the forum and if you log off to see how things look from that viewpoint you'll find all the posts have come from 'a snowHead posted this'.

kuwait_ian, either one of us could do a google search on our screen names within the text of the thread. They are unique enough.

In the thread linked to above, the woman making the complaint would in theory search on her own name.

comprex, True - why didn't I think of that. I misread your first post about this. Sorry. Joins forehead slapping club.

Just checked - google finds kuwait_ian only 3 times out of >1500 posts. So Admin's little trick at least limits the exposure. PG on the other hand gets 21,500,000 hits - as befits our No 1 Poster. snowHead snowHead There is more than one way of finding anonymity.
