We have just spent three nights at Chateau Lake Louise and we either got an incredibly good bargain or someone made a mistake with our booking.
We paid £94 a night, for that we expected a v basic room and had read that they were quite small. We arrived on Sunday, checked in and was told it was on the 7th floor, so into the lift we went and up to the right floor. The lift doors opened to a sign stating that this was the ‘Fairmont Gold’ floor !!!!! Nope we thought, this isn’t right, we are bog standard room people, not Fairmont Gold people, so we went back down the lift to check the info we had. Looking at the hotel guide we were given our room was definitely on the 7th floor so off we went again and ended up in the most luxurious hotel room I have ever seen, with a huge gorgeous bed and an amazing bathroom . We then had a knock on the door and a member of staff asked if we wanted a tour of the private lounge for 7th floor customers. There we had a dedicated check out desk, complimentary tea/coffee/water and nibbles and was told a complimentary continental style breakfast was served each morning. We had already sussed out that breakfast was $39 each (£20) in the main dining room at the hotel so had decided not to eat there but get breakfast on the ski hill. We assumed that the complimentary breakfast would just be some croissants but thought we could have one and a cup of tea before heading up to the skiing.
So next morning off we went for breakfast, and there laid out was cereals, toast, bagels, croissants, fruit, bacon, sausages and someone making individual omelettes!!! We couldn’t have eaten better in the main dining room paying £40 for two of us.
We had three incredibly comfortable nights paying a grand total of £282, we checked out the price for the room on the web and it was $600 a night, so we should have paid about £900 for the three nights!!
So I need to know if anyone else has booked through lastminute and had the same sort of accommodation and a very good bargain or someone made a mistake and booked us into the wrong room, I have a feeling it is the latter, but I am not complaining .
We are now over at Kicking Horse, but the ski hill was fully booked for the weekend so staying down in Golden and come down to earth with a bump and back to our bog standard rooms at the Ramada. It is OK but nobody came to turn down my bed last night

Nice one. You obviously look like a film star. I've recently had a couple of major upgrades, to the Presidential suite (in Den Haag) and to the Governor's suite, in Richmond VA, but regrettably only for one night, on business and paying the rack rate. The Gov's suite was great, I was able to wave to the adoring crowds (a bemused woman with a pushchair) from the enormous balcony from which flew the Stars and Stripes and Virginia's flag. No free brekkie though.

Frosty the Snowman, I went to three within a couple of days a few years ago; walking in Swaledale, home and then a vist to Virginia. No doubt there are others. Perhaps I should try to visit them all, but I can't do that until I've completed my matchstick model of St Paul's.
