When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

broken neck and skull fracture, doesn't say anything about helmets. It happened on a big empty open piste.

Keep your eyes and ears open folks, this sounds like a tragic case of two people not keeping aware of what's going on around them. Very sad Sad

How tragic! For them both to be killed it must have been a very hard collision, and difficult to see how it happened if (as the pistes are in PT) it was a wide uncrowded piste. Sad

I don't think it takes much to create a "very hard" collision. If say two skiers or boarders are each travelling at 20 mph then that it is an impact speed of 40 mph if it occurs head on.

It sounds as though this accident illustrates just how easy it is for something to go horribly wrong.
