Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Can I mount 1984 Marker Rotomat Style Bindings on New K2 Mach GS Skis?

Due to a series of knee repairs I have not been to the slopes for 10 years. This week I found that technology has eclipsed me with the shaped ski movement in the last decade. I started out my day on my 1984 Vintage 207 cm straight skis and felt like a fossil. With the help of a demo program from the Pro Shop I then tried 6 different shaped skis over the rest of the day. I liked the stiffer GS versions with the 16m sidecuts. I wasn't ready to drop $800 USD yet so I went shopping for something cheap on Ebay. I bought a new pair of 181cm 2005 K2 Mach GS Racing Skis on Ebay for $130. I am now wondering if I need a modern binding for these skis, or can I mount my 1984 Marker MRR Racing Twincam 4 Rotomat style bindings on there and have them perform just fine? (These are the bindings Phil & Steve Mahre used back in the 80's) Will this binding flaten out the arc under the boot and create a problem or will I hardly notice?

Old-School, Welcome to snowheads.

I think that you'll find that your circa '84 bindings are no longer on the manufacturer's indemnified list so for that reason alone I'd spring for new. You'll be able to pick something suitable on ebay for sensible $. I'd also try REI as they start to do great deals at this time of the year.
