An estate agent might say "good transport links, easy access"
but part of my skiing is the view - motorways dont do it for me.
So which resorts have hideous eyesore motorways?
3 to start with...
Vail
Copper Mnt
Loveland

ibexman, not really - ends just at Chamonix Sud - Can't say I find it any sort of a problem but I would love "them" to ban TIRs from the valley...

Northstar, Calgary Olympic Park, Orrelle, Kicking Horse, Lake Louise, Norquay. though you'd hardly class the latter 3 as hideous eyesores they are just off the motorway.

Vail?
I don't realize people actually SKI the front side. I always thought that's just the way back to the base at the end of the day! ;o)
Not particularly spetacular, but all the back bowls are as natural as it can be, unless you count the lift itself as eyesores...

I never realised there were any but thanks for the heads up - one more reason not to cross the pond!

David Murdoch, there was so much less smog apparent looking down into the valley when the tunnel was shut.

Jasper has a (fairly distant) view og railway marshalling yards, which I quite liked.
The motorway near Lake Louise doesn't exactly jump out at you.

Uh! Just out of curiosity what are the other reasons "not to cross the pond" Long flight, I'll give you that but that's where the list well and truly ends IMO!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

boris360, I think the point is that the best ski resort is the one that takes hours to drive to up a long, winding road, and that effective transport links are a bad idea...

Wear The Fox Hat, so that'll be most of the French resorts ticking the box then

You know it makes sense.
|
clara_jo, yeah, the idea is to get you used to the queues on the roads, before you hit the queues on the lifts!

boredsurfin, damn, that one just slipped out!
Actually, considering the amount of work some of my colleagues do, and the amount of time they spend of breaks, I'm a hard worker here!

WTFH and I have read of your exploits which sound fun indeed, so I think it comes down to horses and their courses.
With limited hols I am also a sucker for the 8 dayer possible with the train, this would be hard to replicate cheaply I imagine.
