Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I think I'll wait a while for the price to drop - with global warming it's bound to get cheaper as the snow line rises.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I suspect it's a bit of gamesmanship to try and get the council to give way on the housing proposals.

This seems a bit overpriced. One could buy the whole of Sheffield for about a million Cool

Can i just say that Sheffield is one of the finest citys you could ever wish to visit with the best sports facillites in the North of England. wink
As for the ski village even though i live only 10 mins away i very rarely go there, as i prefer the artificial snow at Castleford. If the indoor snow mountain project had taken off at the ski village i think it would have been a major success with the council getting totally behind the project.

I think Castleford has had a big effect on numbers at SSV. I know that a few years back they used to get schools travelling in from wide and far, but I guess now that many of them will go to Cas.

It's a while since I've skied at the Ski Village...but would be sad to see it go.

I used to work at SSV when it first opened. 2 - 3 portakabins and a really small slope. It's sadly in a bit of a state of disrepair at the moment. The main slope has no matting at the top, and the rest is clearly being left alone. It would be awesome if they could get the indoor thing sorted out, but for me it's going to be trips to Cas even though Sheff is only 10 minutes away.

endoman, welcome to snowHeads snowHead

The story I was given regarding the main slope.....they had to get rid of the beginner area, as they were starting to devolop that land in preparation for the snowdome. As a result, beginners were having lessons at the bottom of the main slope, and people were bombing down, hence a safety risk. So they ripped up the top of the main slope, so that the beginners at the bottom were safe. Apparently the majority of their business is people having lessons, people wanting to play in the park or people wanting to run gates (which they never did from the top anyway.
