Poster: A snowHead

Hi All
First post here but been browsing for a while. Great forum.
A group of 9 of us have just cancelled our trip to Borovets due to the obvious problem. 4 or 5 of us are considering Canada instead. We are all mixed abilities, the most experienced having done 3 seasons the least 1 so none of us consider ourselves experts. Being reasonably happy with Bulgaria, been lucky with snow in the past, tuition been fine, lifts fine and pistes largely uncrowded and of course good bar prices we have only skieed in Bulgaria. I was wondering what differences we would find in a Canadian resort. I would expect bigger resorts, well groomed pistes etc but wondering how they would suit skiers of our abilities, (and which would be the best) lift pass prices, tuition, cost of food and any other advice you could come up with.
Any help would be much appreciated

Swansea Jack, What is your budget per head and when are you wanting to go? There are great deals around on ifyouski, iglu, last minute etc if you are not restricted by kids holidays. Great snow in Canada this year, look at Banff, Panorama, Fernie, Whistler - you will get all the types of runs you need and more. It's not going to be Bulgaria prices and watch for lift ticket deals to ease the pain.

Thanks both. Not sure what the point is when we say that's too expensive but looking to get a ski in this year without breaking the bank. Looking at dates between now and early March definately avoiding school hols. (Anyone know if the dates are the same in the UK as Canada?) Regarding deals on lift passes is it best to purchase at time of booking the holiday or in the resort? We will probably be looking at some tuition too if only for part of the week/two weeks

Canadian schoolhols seem ot be different form UK. They have just a couple of days off at Easter, for example.
I have been to Canada, mostly Banff, quite a few times but never to Bulgaria so I can't compare the two. I've always had a great time in Canada, and if you fancy it you should go. Not aware of lift pass deals in Canada (unlike USA). Tuition standards tend to be high in my experience.
