Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi - my first post so please be gentle... Confused

I'm going to the Vallnord region (staying in Arinsal) in the last week of Feb -> currently praying for a decent base layer before I get there!!!

Can anyone please advise:

Hire
Where's the best place for equipment hire in Arinsal? I have spent a bit of time looking but can only find mention of a couple of shops with no obvious links to websites. We'll be looking to hire boards and skis. Anyone know what the selection is like? Is it best to book beforehand or leave it 'til we get there?

Lift Pass
All the Google links for this seem to go back to the same place, but the price seems quite reasonable. Is it better to book on-line prior to going or is it just as economic to sort it out when I get there?

Ski School
Some of our group will be wanting to book an instructor for a morning. Can anyone please advise the best way to do this - again is it best to book beforehand or leave it 'til we get there?

Sorry to cram this all into one post but I figured it was better than cluttering the board with 3 new ones.

Any advice you can give will be greatly appreciated!

ronaldothefrog, you need to speak to nadenoodlee she is our Arinsal expert. If you dont get a reply soon send her a PM.

I hired skis at the shop opposite the bottom of the gondola - I think it was Pic Negre - very good skis, service and price. Usually, the lift passes are just as cheap, if not cheaper in resort.

Wait until in resort for lift passes and lesson booking. I always used to prebook everything thinking it would save a lot of money, but then learned that it doesn't save much and it takes away a lot of flexibility when you're there. Also you might chose to ski or have lessons somewhere else if the conditions aren't too good in Arinsal itself.
