Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi all, thank goodness the snow has arrived !!!!
I am travelling from Geneva by car on Saturday, and rather than driving up to Avoriaz and paying to park I was going to use the Les Prodain cable car, the parking is free (I am told) I will not arrive until approx 7.30pm, I understand the lift runs till midnight at the weekend.
But, someone has mentioned that the office may be open to buy a ticket, does anyone have any advise/info ???
Thanks.

thunderer, I have always had a season pass but I know it does run late (till midnight on Saturdays) and I am sure that there is provision to purchase tickets at the lift station later in the evening. There have been some restrictions at Prodains in the last week for the parking. The outside parking up at Avoriaz isn't that much dearer than a one way ticket on the cable car. Pros and cons.....

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Parking at Ardent (Montriond) is free, right at the base of the Les Lindarets cable car which will take you to Avoriaz. We parked at Ardent and it's only a few minutes on the car to get to Avoriaz itself. And also it's a lovely quiet ski back to Ardent with some lovely runs (and I surpsied myself by surviving the ski below the lift that goes up to Avoriaz - I love it when people take me somewhere more challenging!).

We caught the bus from Geneva once to get to Avoriaz and found that the bus stoped at Les Prodain cable car instead of taking us up to Avoriaz. You can get a ticket at the base but the trouble begins when you get to the top. Unless the tractor units or horse drawn carts are around you will have to man handle eveything to your appartment. We had to go to the top of Avoriaz and that was no fun at 10 PM in a snow storm.
In a word park up at Avoriaz and save yourself a lot of trouble.
