(btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

HI All,
Both NICAD batterries in my Motorola two way radio (talkabout 5422) have died after just a few months. Wondering if its due to the cold or perhaps because I didn't fully discharge the radio before charging. Anyone know where I can get lithium batteries for these radios so they can be recharged at any time like a mobile phone?

You can't get Lithium (Li-Ion or Li-Po) in AA size as incorrect charging of a lithium cell (with a nicad charger for example) will lead to a fire or explosion.
so to avoid the risk they don't make them in that size You can, however, get Nickel Metal Hydride (Nimh) batteries that don't have battery memory effect. Sanyo ones are best.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I had the same problem, I noe use 2600 mAH NiMH batteries and a one-hour quick charger for mine, the batteries last so much longer than the original ones did even when new and the charging is a lot faster
