Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

freestyle ski insurance

just wondering if anyone knows of an insurance company which will cover freestyle skiing, on top of the usual medical fees, legal expenses etc etc? i had a quick look at dogtag, but looking at the finer details in the pdf download, it says no freestyle in the winter sports cover.

cover for un-guided off piste, would be a nice bonus as well. going with a mixed ability group to Val Thorens in 3 weeks time, so i'm not sure extactly what skiing i'll do, but i suspect it'll mainly be on piste stuff; but i'd prefer to get decent insurance cover just in case! rolling eyes

As Snowcard Sports Level 4 covers snowparks, I guess that covers freestyle - but of course you would need to check with the company. Un-guided off-piste is covered, too (but read small print).

You could look at the BMC policies (british mountaineering council). I have an annual policy that covers sking on and off piste and climbing and mountaineering - you do not need to be a member to take out the insurance. I have claimed on it when I got stretchered off a black in Zermatt 3 years ago and they were very efficient.

Their Alpine and ski policy covers "all forms of sking including piste, off piste, telemark, nordic, downhill, touring and snowboarding and snow and ice climbing". However it is worth you giving them a ring to check
