Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Japan - recommendations ?

I'm looking into the possibility of a weeks skiing in Japan en-route to oz sometime in march/early April ( Whistler is another other option, though budget might yet wreck both ideas ). To a piste cruiser, Niseko is currently looking interesting. Anyone any experience/advice/suggestions about skiing in Japan & Niseko in particular

nickH,
Niseko is a pretty good place but I have afeeling that it tends to wind down at the end of the season I went there in April and it was good fun with plenty of snow but the warmth was beginning to affect the pistes quite a lot. The offpiste which was less heavily skied was a lot more fun.

Whistler with its extra height may be a better option late on in the season, it's also a lot bigger..

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Perhaps I should think of earlier in March then - how did you find the prices generally - pretty exorbitant or reasonably competitive with , say, Whistler ?

nickH,
I was there in 1999 and the prices at the existing exchange rates were a bit cheaper than Whistlers which I visited the same season.

T Bar,

thanks for that, have to say it's looking pretty competitive at the moment, though juggling flights is a headache
