PG,
The Bristish are known to be good at laughing at themselves but don't you think you are going a bit too far........
I admire your attitude of taking everything easy. Looking at the photo the pain must have been awful. Still fly the flag and show the world what we are made off!

Very bionic. Hard luck. I appreciate that you may prefer not to discuss this, but was it an unusual fall or the sort of thing that could happen to anyone?

richmond, making some quick, hard turns among the bumps off piste alongside an easy blue, caught an edge, fell on head/top of left shoulder on an area of hard snow and exposed rock. Some bad luck, some stupidity. I'd skied them many times before this season, but not behind my kids. I was skiing too fast, simple as that. Frosty the Snowman, who needs viagra?

PG, apart from the 'quick' and 'hard' bits, that could have been me! Is it as sore as it looks? I hope not.
I recently heard the French health service described as the best in the world, so far as the technical quality and availability of the care is concerned. I believe that the cost at the point of use is fairly modest (although the actual cost seems to be budget-knackeringly huge).
Is it the best? Or at least, is it so good that it might be the best (I assume that you haven't tried them all, yet)?

richmond, Going to write a piece on the hospital experience later... as for it being sore, it hurts everywhere but the actual place of the injury/op for some reason - mainly a toothache-like pain from elbow to fingertip if I make an awkward movement. Never realised how little you can do with just one arm. Still, the guy in the bed next to me had smashed up both shoulder and hip (ran into his own daughter from behind ), so there's always someone worse off than you. (Daughter was fine).

richmond, PG may have got better service than I had in January, my experience=expensive(cash only pay before treatment). Technically inept, since the treating Dr. missed an acromioclavicular injury, then fixed a clavicle brace on top of it (nice and tight)!

Blimey! Is there a scale on that X-Ray PG? The pin looks like it's about a foot long?

rob@rar.org.uk,
Not in medical profession myself by the pins seem to be screwed into the bone. Your statement would imply PG got bone as wide as a foot. In that case PG would be an ape!

saikee, The pin is the big long bright white thing, which is held in place by 3 screws which or the short white things.

|
rob@rar.org.uk, on the original X-ray (47% scale) the pin measures 7.6 cms, so I can only lay claim to a measly 6.3 inches I'm afraid...

PG,
Looks nasty. Not meccano man personally, but looks like # didn't involve joint surface or shoulder muscle insertions other than deltoid? Hope radial nerve not involved. From memories misted in time, if alignment of long axis ok and unites, then should remodel ok. Any orthopod s?
