Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hire ski's in Mottaret ... a couple of questions

 Poster: A snowHead

Morning guys Blush

Heading out to Meribel on Jan 20th and staying in Mottaret, and wanting to decide on where and what to hire. Am staying on the Laitelet side, so looking for recommendations of a hire shop on that side for Ski's.

A little background info, i'm a relative newbie having done 4 weeks, mostly on piste with a little off the sides. I enjoy most things from fast cruisey blues/reds to tree lined steeps. Can't stand bumps (can't imagine why anyone would like them rolling eyes ). Have just bought my first set of boots from the lovely people of lockwoods.

Height 6ft 2
Weight 85kg
Age 27

I'm looking for some direction in what skis to give a try this time. I used Rossi Bandit B2's (no doubt the punter ski of 2005/6 judging by the number of people using them) in 182 on my last week and wasn't particularly impressed. Felt wooly when trying for fast edge to edge carving. I'm thinking maybe something with a smaller waist would give me the feeling im looking for. As i said i'm no off piste guru so maybe a more piste oriented ski would suit me more.

Anyway ... some recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thanks Toofy Grin

Thinking of the skis that might typically be in the shops in Mottaret. The Zenith range from Rossignol. I would sayFischer RX skis but suspect they won't be stocked.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

You don't see Fischers at all in that part of the world, unless you take your own. There is a pretty decent ski hire shop in the Hameau by the Baline Blanche. Mostly Rossignol and the obligatory Head Monsters and Atomics.

I doubt you will improve much on B2s. I dream of them!
