Poster: A snowHead
|
A good friend and I are headed out west to Co for the first time. We were thinking of renting a car and doing day trips to multiple resorts. I am now thinking it may be more fun to just pick one and stay (spend less tie in the car) and allow for some night life. We are both pretty good boarders but neither one of us have been beyond the east and the ice.
Also any good advice about which resort. We are flying into Denver, we don’t like lines a tt eh lift and are looking for big powder. We will be going Jan 18-22

dmay4, greetings and welcome to snowHeads!
One possibility would be to stay in Frisco and use the public transportation to get to everywhere (Breck, Copper, Keystone, A Basin). That gives you a lot of terrain to explore, and you can likely hop over Vail pass to Vail and Beaver Creek if you really want more terrain. Winter Park and Loveland are nearby, too, and an easy drive if you have a car.
That time in January is a pretty good time to be here. Not too crowded, and the snow should be pretty nice as long as the weather cooperates.

Apologies for my appalling mental map of the US but I'm confused now. If "Co" is Colorado, doesn't that make SSH's advice to stay in 'Frisco' a bit unrealistic? Or is 'Frisco' not San Francisco in California?

good advice - Frisco, Silverthorn or Dillon is well served by Summit Stage (free bus) check route is close to accommodation. Can be very cold, and watch the altitude -dont over do it first couple of days!Plenty of terrain ,you will need longer to get around all of that area!
