Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I will be in Kaprun in two weeks 12-06 for race camp @ Kitzsteinhorn. We have 4-5 free days after our training is over. Where do you advise for good ski/night life? Travel out of Munich so want to stay close. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Open to anyone else's sugestions. Very Happy

ncdownhillracer, welcome to snowHeads snowHead

At this time of year, it's best to keep an eye out on which resorts have good snow conditions. Austria has had reasonable early snow the past couple of years, but it may well be advisable to leave it until you get there to decide.

ncdownhillracer,

Welcome to Snowheads.

Not sure if you mean

1) what are the best places to got out in and ski in Kaprun

http://www.europasportregion.info/en/winter/lifestyle/nightlife/disco_dancing.html

For Kaprun there's a "Heineken Carving Weekend" on the 1st & 2nd Dec. http://www.baumbar.at/php_sites_de/programm.php

2) What resorts between Kaprun and Munich offer good skiing and nightlife. (Sallbach if it has enough snow is probably the answer to this question)

Schnapp Hans at the top of the Schittenhohe (Zell am See) was usually lively and great fun, you can stay overnight if you really want to party hard. There are plently of clubs and bars in Zell am See: Greens, The Crazy Daisy and many more. I'm not sure about Kaprun as I stayed in ZaS and only ever skied in Kaprun.

Thanks for the info.

To clarify my question....We will be in Kaprun/Zell am See for 1 week and want some ideas of which resorts (great ski & party) to look at in the Europa Sport Region. How does the Europa Sport lift pass work? Can we ski several resorts on the same lift ticket?

We are open to a resonable train ride to get to the right location. Looking at the map I was thinking Cortina if we are to travel out of Austria. Any input? snowHead snowHead snowHead

ncdownhillracer, Saalbach is just around the corner from Zell. AIR the europa sport ticket just covers Zell and Kaprun

ncdownhillracer,

If snow is good Saalbach is well worth the short bus ride as Frosty the Snowman, says.

ncdownhillracer, the other ticket that is available is the Salzburgerland pass. This covers around 17(??) resorts in the area including Zell, Kaprun, Saalbach and Kitzbuhel.

Anyone know how big a festival is Saalbach kick off weekend- Sport 2000 Snow Mania? wink wink I saw it on their web site.

I am looking for event and terrain the weekend of 8-11 December. How easy is transport/accomodations to visit a couple resorts between Friday and Tuesday?

Should I have room booked before trip or go out there and see what is available?

ncdownhillracer, you should be okay to sort out accommodation when you get there. It's not the busyest time of year.

If you go to the tourist office in the resorts (or contact them beforehand), they will have a list of available accommodation and be able to match to your budget.
