Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Arcs 1800 or 1950

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Evening,

I am going to Les Arcs on Feb 1st for a long weekend Thurs-Mon. I had planned to go to 1800, as there was accomodation available for those dates - but looking at the pictures 1950 does seem much nicer (albeit smaller). I have since found some more accomodation in 1950 for those dates, which is a bit more £££ but again, looks nicer.

Two lads - 20/21yrs old on this trip, so were after some Apres....but its not the main reason were going snowHead

So....Numero 1 - which has the better ski access? We'll be up for first lift, and will be returning as late as possible snowHead

2 - Is there much in the way of Apres in 1950? were not going clubbing till 4am very night - but we shall be consuming some alcoholic beverages Madeye-Smiley Shocked

Any personal reccomendatons? stories?

Cheers,
Chris snowHead

Ski access depends on where in 1800 your accommodation might be. Pretty much everything in 1950 is ski in/out, but in 1800 some of the property requires a (short) walk to the lifts. You can find an interactive map of the main property in 1800 here.

Apres in 1950 is much more subdued than in 1800 (which seems to be the liveliest of the Arcs villages), but there are three or four bars and one nightclub to choose from. Prices for food and drinks will be a little bit cheaper in 1800.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I would go for 1800 if it is skiing you want but take Robs warning seriously or you can have a bit of a walk to the lifts (Uphill needless to say)

Great launch point for all of Les Arcs - And a short ski from the Vanoise express which gives access to La Plagne

Everthing from coffee to ski rental is will probably be more expensive in 1950 - It is a lot prettier though
