Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

K2 Public Enemys or the Volkl Karmas??!

 Poster: A snowHead

I've started toying with the idea of getting another pair of skis; mainly for skiing on real snow, as opposed to my pair of last season's Fujatives which I plan on using mainly for dryslope / park. Now don't get me wrong, the Fujatives are a great ski - light and springy, good for the park and can almost be treated as "disposable" ski when it comes to dryslope; but I feel like I need something which can cope well for all mountain and give me more versitility all over, especially since I find that the Fujatives sometimes seem a bit unstable on piste.

So comes the question - what ski? Got my eye on either the K2 Public Enemys or the Volkl Karmas at the moment, I tried a pair of karmas a few weeks back at a dryslope, they were 170s, so too long for me but they did feel good to ski on (the Fujatives are 159cm). My local dry slope shop, has recommended the PEs - however, they said that I should go for a pair of 164s; is the ok? Or are they trying to flog me what's in the shop (they're out of 159s)... abit cynical I know!

Overall, I'm looking for more of all mountain ski (piste/park (trying to get into freestyle)/off piste). Any opinions on the two skis mentioned or any other suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks! Very Happy

You should be OK on snow on the 164s, but it might take you a while to get used to them. I'd go with the PEs, which are slightly less of a handful than the Karmas.

I skied the PEs in 180-something and thought they were more like 170 and I'm only 75kg

Wow, I did read somewhere that twin tips are in reality shorter, since the actual area of the ski that has contact with the snow is less. Would love to test some before I buy, guess it'll have to wait till I'm in resort!

Cee,

If you want them to float in deep stuff then the size will be an issue IME... add 10cms or so at least. If you want them for the park then maybe the shorter lenghts will help out although I'm not a park rat
