Poster: A snowHead

Same as this one available from O'Neill stores for just £30 (in various colours).
My brother's after one and was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience of them, a bargain or not ? He's an intermediate skier and wants a helmet for recreational protection rather than doing any serious stunts etc, i.e. doubt you'll find him in the snow park or cliff jumping.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

masmith - all helmets sold in the Europe must meet minimum protection requirements - so it should be fine.
BUT - it doesn't matter what the helmet is, it's only any good if it fits - and the only way to check that is by trying it on. For example, I love Gyro helmets, but my head's the wrong shape for them...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

yeah it fits OK, but I would have thought there must be sometihng to differntiate a £30 helmet from a £70 one other than fit ...

masmith - if you hit the Giro website you'll see no less than 28 different snowsports helmets. The key differentiators as prices go up are:
- weight
- more ventiallation or adjustable ventillation
- having a peak
- whether the ear pads are removable
- ear pads with inbuilt headphones
- chin guard (for slalom racing, jumps, etc)
- funkier graphics
- being made of more exotic materials - like carbon fibre
Different models / makes will then also suit different head shapes.

Sorry to be picky - but does it fit "ok" or "properly"? "Properly" is no sloppiness in any direction and snug in al l the right places. Sorry to be anul, but I've had a couple of bad falls and know the value of a good helmet.
