We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Biathlon specialist Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, of Norway, had a surprising victory on saturday winning the 15km sprint at the FIS World Cup cross-country event in Gaellivare, Sweden. The five-time Olympic gold medallist’s time was 33:05.6. Katerina Neumannova, of Czechoslovakia won the women’s 10km event with a time of 24:19.9....The FIS has just given the go ahead for Lake Louise in Canada to host World Cup ski racing events to kick off the men’s and women’s 2006-07 speed events. The men’s downhill and super G are scheduled to take place next weekend (November 25th and 26th), while the women’s races will taken place a week later (December 1st to 3rd).

Surprising? He was favorite! Though it must be galling for all the XC skiers to be beaten by a competitor from another discipline. I wouldn't call it a sprint either - sprints are more like 1-2km and run as head to head races with ~ four competitors in each heat as in Dusseldorf a few weekends ago
