Just booked a cheapie  Christmas week as the snow seems to have arrived already!
Anyone got any comments/suggestions on the resort or runs?

I logged a fairly long review when I got back last year - somewhere in here. Fab place, I'm sure you'll have a great time.
Particular highlights for me were a wonderfully quiet relaxed day at fageralm, the pasta place on the 'skiing' side of the town plaza (don't know N/S/E/W) - up a side street, I'll try and remeber the name later, and the fact that most of the lifts seemed to be gondolas or covered chairs and very well thought through ones at that. Superb fast cruising.

tessaventer, I have been twice (stayed in Haus) and would go again. It is great for intermediate cruising.
One thing I particularly enjoyed is travelling from one end to the other over the 4 mountains, you get a great sense of covering a distance. If you want to avoid skiing both ways, there is a bus service that links up the bottom of the mountains.
In addition to the 4 mountains, there are other adjacent areas should you get bored or fancy a change of scene.

a.j., ah, that helps - good report. The reason that it didn't come up when I searched was that you didn't actually mention "Schladming" in that report  (as a thought, it might be worth an edit to add it so that it does show up when others search)

Ray Zorro, I was looking for adjacent resorts - which is the nearest/best for a day out if we get bored?

Tessaventer, if you have a look at this website http://en.skiamade.com/ and then click on say "webcams", it will open up a 3D panorama which shows all the ski amade areas.
Immediately adjacent are the resorts of Flachau, Radstadt and Wagrain (which are probably linked by bus).
Slightly further afield you have the resorts of Bad Gastein and Bad Hofgastein.
I have never been to any of these, and I am wondering if they all may also be on the same lift pass, but I really don't know - a local may be able to help more - sorry.
I doubt that you would get bored of Schladming in a week though.

they are all on the same pass - but if there were buses I never found them...didn't look very hard though - was only there 4 days!
