Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Good news for Cairngorm chairlifts

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Here is some GOOD NEWS for Scottish Skiing:

The Cairngorms National Park Authority considered it's response to the consultation on the transfer of the Cairn Gorm estate from current owners Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) to Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) at its monthy board meeting on Friday 3 November.

Among the points made was:

.. the removal of some ski-ing infrastructure, should not be carried out as this stage. Decisions on these proposals should be deferred and instead considered through a full management planning process and through consultation with all of those interested in this aspect of the estate.'

Hopefully this will mean that the current 'battle' to save the uplift has been won....now we need to make sure that the 'war' is won too and we can once again enjoy the use of the Ciste and West Wall Chairs and the Aonach Poma, as well as the Ciste building.

Also check out front page press article and a letter in the local paper.

If you haven't already done so please respond to the consultation. It's on a proforma and will only take you a few minutes.

Nice one Paul - as you say keep up the campaign folks and get those responses in no later than Wednesday 15th November 2006.

As a result of the noise we've been making there's a meeting with Bob Kinnaird, head of the operating company, in early December and the company seem to have started to listen to constructive suggestions so we are having an impact.

Even if you don't ski in Scotland at the moment you may want to one day once the cheap airlines prices are pushed up and the environmental impact of flights on snow conditions is fully aparent, I saw an interesting Ski Club article on the subject here. I took a look at the prices on the Snow Train and they struck me as rather high (even now when they're competing against currently cheap air fares), certainly the overnight sleeper to Aviemore is generally cheaper, easier (and nicer) so lets keep our options open and support Scottish Snow Sports in whatever way we can Smile

Oh and there's a nice fresh white dusting on The Lecht this morning Very Happy
