Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Unless you are going to get a fully articulated hinged brace most supports are I understand it more of psychological value & therefore you may as well just put a couple of tubigrips on the knee. What you need depends on what your clinical problem is but if its serious a £30 support probably won't fix it but may make you feel better.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

b.dudman, bare in mind that if the problem is bad [in any way] and you continue to ski on it with only a basic support you could cause yourself further damage...never a good idea. what is the injury, there are a few round here may be able to help

b.dudman, I have used one like that in the past but found that the hinges on the insides of my knees would rub together.
I don't use anything now.

b.dudman I have used both the BioSkin Hinged Knee and Patella Stabaliser supports. I can highly recommend them both! Many sources in the UK.
For me, 2 x knee surgery, (Cartlidge and chondroplasty). The hinged brace was a bit of an overkill, but as I was only 4 months after an OP , i thought it was a good idea. At the time, even walking up stairs was a problem. After skiing it was still painfull, but the pills dealt with that. Last year took both but just used the Stabaliser. They made the difference for me.
Good luck

b.dudman,
Off the top of my head and with just the info you have posted I'd be thinking that your knees aren't in very good shape to ski on and therefore a visit to a physio who can set you straight with a few muscle strenthening exercises to start with is what I would do.
Most inactive knees will complain about skiing unless prepared and that goes for rugby and football as well.
As others have said, the good these may do will be in the head.
Build up the muscles so the ligaments aren't complainig about doing that job, I'd say. Anything more than that I'd get medical advice.
