Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Engelberg?

Anyone familiar with this resort?

Thinking of going just before Christmas. My husband and son are good confident skiers, but me, well I'm a bit of a baby!!

Are there any nice easy blues for me to play on? Little Angel

There are much better resorts than Engelberg for piste skiing... It's best feature is the Titlis lift which serves just one piste down although you can have a play around up there but it is the height the lift serves and the numerour ways down over glaciers that are the appeal
Have a look at this piste map
www.titlis.ch. It might well have the height for early season snow but might not have the variation of pistes you want.

I'd even go as far as to say that if you don't want to venture onto the glacier - and you need to be comfortable on this terrain or get a guide - then don't bother.

There are not a lot of blues there. As you look at the mountain at the left hdnd side, there is a couple of blues way up high. It's a biti of a trek to get there as it involves the main cable car, chairlift across the frozen lake and then another chairlift. To get from there all the way back home, there is no route that's covered by only blue runs. There is one section of this that is a nice wide open blue, but there is a red just above it.

on the right side of the piste map, there are probably a couple of blue runs marked just under Laub. This is really only a beginners area with one big wide piste served by a drag lift. You have to get a bus back to the main Gondols from here - or walk about 15 mins.

Methinks we might look elsewhere!

Bridgit Jones, Did you specifically want a Swiss resort?

You could try one of the Portes du Soleil resorts and the area covers both France and Switzerland Very Happy We go there for Christmas and/or New Year and have never had a problem with snow at that time - how soon before Christmas are you planning to go?

Engelberg is a fantastic off piste resort particularly with guides.

The on piste is certainly limited unless you were just there for a weekend. The black run down from Titlis is largely unpisted and can be very difficult at times.

IncogSkiSno,
No, not necessarily a Swiss resort. That particular resort popped up because it fit in with our dates which are from Thursday 14th December to Thursday 21st.

We've decided to leave it until late November to book somewhere so that we can see what happens with snowfall this year.
