So, i really don't know if this thread belongs here, but here goes:
I'd like to know if any snowheads have and are willing to share info about the running costs of a dry slope (ball park figures are good too): how much is the initial cost (assuming one long slope, one short slope and a half pipe)? how much are the day to day running costs? What is the most popular business model - mainly clubs that pay a membership fee, families that buy a "seasonal " ticket or people that go ocasionally?
Any info much welcomed
Disclaimer - yes, sometime in the future a bussiness might emerge, but right now it's a bored snowhead dreaming instead of writing his dissertation

I think the Ski Club of Ireland would be a pretty good model to look at.

As far as I can remember it started off as a very small affair with a tiny mat developed by a group of enthusiasts and has developed from there to what it is now.
They have plenty of info there about rates, membership schemes etc. Hope you find it of some use!

Mark2010, thanks for the link. it seems they are able to run hte slope with quite a small customer base (800 members and 5000 visitors) so....maybe

sugardaddy, I wasn't really bothered where you lived relative to Manchester, more with which was your nearest dry ski slope.
The economics are different for each of them depending on how much work needed to be done to shape the underlying slope.
The most recent big slope was Wycombe. Norwich would be another club worth contacting since the same people have been involved there for a long time.
At one time, the makers of Dendix would help with cost estimates.

rjs, cheers, i should confess that i've never been to or seen a dry slope other than pics on the net. It's just the the snowheads make it sound so much fun!
I'll definetedly look into those two clubs. Right now, the main "blind spot" in my dream is the real estate part as i have no knowledge of the marke, legislation etc (except for renting a very small flat from a nice landlord).
I'm actually leaning more towards Snowflex and not dendyx as i think that that there is large audience for a park and for teching small children so gentler falls are a must
