Have found some very cheap trousers made by Dare 2 Be. who apparently are tied up with Regatta. Anyone got any opinions before I purchase / avoid purchase?
Also, what is Isotex? Is it effective?

I know a few people with D2B kit, and it seems pretty good. Big Dave Next Door has got a nice jacket by them, and it certainly does the job.

We used Dare 2 Be for our staff jackets last year and they were fantastic. Obviously they are not top of the range but suited out needs perfectly. Warm, dry and comfy. Also hard wearing as were worn everyday of the season on and off the mountain so stood up to the test brilliently. For value for money purchase I would definitely recommend!
(PS - Think that Isotex is their version of Gortex - sure there are some technical differences but as far as I was concerned I stayed dry and my jacket seemed breathable and that was all I wanted!)

the kids have mainly used Dare 2 Be stuff, (mainly because I buy it and it is cheap). It does the job though. No complaints.
I had some gloves of theirs and they didn't last so long (less than a week) before I snagged them on some sharp edges and ripped them. That was probably just be me though and not a problem with the product. They were lovely and warm.

At £39.99 (before I even try and beat them down further!!) I figure it may be worthwhile. Having said that, I have 4 trips planned this season totalling nearly three weeks and hope to do the same or more forever more. Am I therefore being cheap about my trousers? Should I be investing more (not neccessarily just monetary terms, but moreso quality)?

SP has had D2B jacket and trousers for two seasons, we have been in some very cold and very wet stuff and he has never complained that he was wet or cold. Had some of their gloves which were not great but alright in dry not too cold conditions.
He has grown out of this kit now so I will be looking to replace it for the coming seasons activities - I will probably go fro D2B again as it is good value and as previously stated fit for the job.

Peter Leuzzi, I have a D2B jacket and trousers which have seen -25 degrees, heavy snow, rain, sleet, in short just about anything you can throw at them. I have never been cold or wet in them.
Also used the trousers in L2A this summer and was never too hot either.
They've seen about seven weeks use so far and are showing no sign at all of wear and tear.
Probably not the height of fashion, but I'd recommend them.

Dare 2 be - good stuff for people on a budget. Experiance with the better half is that once you use it every week then it shows it weaknesses (hence she now has bonfire stuff), but if its for a week in the alps, go for it! and you are quite right when you say its a subsidiary of Regatta.

BTW - The Keela kit ( as advertised on  ) is very good, a bit more expensive than D2B, but I would say better fabricated and more hardy. I did forget to mention that SP's jacket zip did wear badly and needed a lot of patience to engage in the last week of it's life.
