Poster: A snowHead
|
The US magazine Skiing has a new slide show on its site: winning photos from a competition based on the 3-valley ski area of the Monterosa (Alagna, Gressoney, Champoluc). There are 8 lovely photos.
Have a look.
I'm still waiting to fully explore this renowned off-piste playground. An initial trip locked us into the Gressoney valley because of high winds on the peaks, but that was promising enough. Apparently it's best to ski there late in the late season for the best conditions. This April could be a winner because of the early Easter hols, providing they continue running all the lifts.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

That 1st picture - First Place Air - is incredible - even allowing for clever camers angles.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Nick Zotov, i thought this one was best. I thought the winner all style and no soul.

Jonpim, yabbut this one speaks to me of near suicidal courage - even allowing for camera angles.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

No Nick, I think in the fading light he thought the piste just continued on down - he didn't realise there was a large drop. Note the adopted position: he is trying desperately to maintain control of his bladder and bowels. We've all done it. It's his own fault for not puting his headlights on - that is what's on his head, isn't it?

Nick Zotov, that saying "You don't have to be mad to do this, but it helps" comes to mind
The third place creative angle is quite nice but the depth of field is to low so the rock faces are sadly out of focus

I thought this one stood out most.
All the lights in the world is not going to help him.
