Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi, family off to Obergurgl (booked with Crystal) 21-28 Dec. Any top tips for the area please? Staying in Hotel Lohmann (looks ok(ish)) and boy in ski school for first 3 days allowing myself and the wife to explore. TIA.

Make your way over to Hochgurgl using the gondola link, as the bus often seemed to take an age to come. Lovely wide blues and reds, and The Top Mountain Star restaurant has amazing 360 views over Italy and Austria.
Restaurant Pic-Nic is a good value place for lunch on the street opposite the Hotel Edelweiss-Gurgl, but fills up early.

Free bus to Solden. Takes 15 mins. Fair bit more skiing there on same lift pass.
Buses usually run well to timetable. Top Express takes 15 mins each way and is reached down a red - which is not a problem at all but slightly steeper than some other runs in Obergurgl. You can take Solden bus and get off at gondola in Untergurgl to access Hochgurgl area (which is about 60% of combined area)

Hochurgl has the sun in the morning and Obergurgl the afternoon. The Nederhutte is a brilliant mountain bar with live music - an absolute recommend. Go early to get a table. Hope you have a great time.
