Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Touring campsites Nr Bourg st Maurice

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi Everyone, We normally stay in Val Cenis for the season with our caravan but wanted to have an early season (10 Dec)recce around Courchevel, does anyone know if we can stay at a campsite in or near Saint Bourg Maurice In our touring caravan? As we understand it will just be a 20 min drive to Courchevel from there. The higher sites are understandably summer only, but we were hoping for a winter site around the area. Any experience or pointers appreciated. Very Happy

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It will take you quite a bit more than 20 minutes to get from Bourg St Maurice to Courchevel. 20 Minutes will get you to Les Arcs but not many other ski areas.

I've stayed here in summer and it's open all year I believe. It's closer to Bourge StMaurice but as said enough that's not 20min from Courchevel.

@Jojoshaw45, I think the only one that really works for a long stay is this one. https://europe.huttopia.com/site/camping-bourg-saint-maurice/hiver/
It has good bus links up to Tignes and La Ros and is convenient for Paradiski. As @snowrider, says, it's a bit of a schlep up to the 3V, probably about an hour.

@Jojoshaw45, as above while it's physically not too far from BSM to Courchevel as the crow flies, topography means it's a lot further on the ground as you need to go all the way back down the tarentaise valley to Moutiers then round the Bozel valley

You might want to consder these sites which are closer to Courchevel and the 3 Vallées - I've not used then so can't comment

I will say though that the campsite in BSM is well used through winter and we've met folks up in Sainte Foy who'd driven down from Belgium and were staying there and touring the various resorts of the Tarentaise

@Jojoshaw45, The only time we accessed Courchevel from our caravan was when we stayed at
https://www.clicochic.com/camping-france-rhone_alpes-alpes_lodges_hiver-FR.html in Pralognan La Vanoise . For us it was late season, Easter, as we had been obliged to leave the caravan there due to an injury sustained by my husband in February and Pralo has a limited season. If we are remembering correctly it was about an hours drive.

BSM (the central site there good for several resorts) is perhaps too far for Courchevel.
